ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Han Taiwanese

"Han" refers to a group of people or ethnicity. They are the majority in China. Taiwanese people are also Han, but they come from Taiwan, a small island near China. However, sometimes people use the term "Han Taiwanese" to specifically refer to Taiwanese people who identify strongly with their Han heritage and culture. It's like when you say you are a boy or a girl, but then you might also say you are a boy who loves dinosaurs or a girl who loves ballet. The term "Han Taiwanese" just adds a little extra information about someone's identity.
