Hanging judge

A hanging judge is a judge who was known to always give very harsh punishments, especially the death penalty by hanging. Imagine you did something bad and went to court, but the judge always said you are guilty and gave you the worst punishment possible. That judge would be called a hanging judge. It's like having a teacher who always gives you an F, no matter how hard you try, instead of helping you learn and do better next time. Hanging judges were not fair, and people didn't like them because they thought they were too mean or strict. Nowadays, we have fair and just judges who listen to evidence and give appropriate punishments.
