Hart Island (Bronx)
Hart Island is a special place in the Bronx where people who have passed away are buried. It is a big island that is only for people who are no longer with us. Sometimes, people don't have anybody to take care of them when they pass away, so the government takes care of them and gives them a place to rest on Hart Island.
When a person is buried on Hart Island, they are put in a special box called a coffin and placed in the ground. Then, a little marker with their name and a number is put on top of where they are buried so people can remember them.
Even though Hart Island is very sad, it is also a special place because it gives people a peaceful spot to rest after they pass away.
