Harvest (wine)

Harvest is like picking fruit from a tree. Only instead of picking apples or peaches, we pick grapes. These grapes are grown on big farms called vineyards. Vineyards are places where lots of grape plants grow close together.

When the grapes are ready to be picked, lots of people go to the vineyard and start picking grapes off the grape plants. They use their hands or special machines to gently remove the grapes from the grape plant.

After the grapes are picked, they are put into big containers and taken to a place called a winery. At the winery, the grapes are pressed to get all the juice out. This juice is called grape juice or grape must.

The grape must is then put in special containers where it will start to ferment. Fermenting is when the grape juice turns into wine. This is a really important step because it makes the wine taste better.

After some time, the wine is put into barrels or bottles where it will stay until it's ready to be sold. When the winemaker thinks the wine is ready, they will put a cork in the bottle and send it to stores or restaurants where people can buy it and enjoy it. And that's how we get yummy wine from grapes!
