Hausa Folk-lore

Okay, so, you know how your grandma or grandpa can tell you really cool stories about things that happened a long time ago? Well, the Hausa people, who live in parts of Africa, have their own special stories that they tell too! These stories are called Hausa folk-lore.

In these stories, there are all sorts of characters like animals, people, and even things like the sun and moon. They are usually used to teach important lessons or just for fun!

For example, there is a story about a tortoise who wanted to fly like the birds. So, he convinced the birds to teach him how to fly. They agreed but told him he had to follow their rules. The tortoise thought he could do whatever he wanted, like he always did. But, he messed up and ended up falling back to the ground. The other animals laughed at him, but the tortoise learned that he should listen to others and not be so stubborn.

These stories are usually told around campfires or in the shade of a big tree. They have been passed down from generation to generation and are a special part of Hausa culture.
