ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heartbeat bill

When a woman has a baby growing inside her belly, the baby's heart starts to beat very early on, even before the woman knows she's pregnant. The heartbeat bill is a law that says if a doctor can hear a baby's heartbeat during pregnancy, the woman cannot have an abortion to end the pregnancy. This means that if the baby's heartbeat is found, the woman cannot choose to stop the pregnancy and will have to continue carrying the baby until it's born. Some people think this is good because they believe that life is very important and should be protected right from the start. However, others disagree because they believe that a woman should have the right to choose what she does with her own body and her pregnancy.
