A heating mantle is a special device that can be put around a glass container to keep it warm. Think of it like a cozy sweater for a glass jar!
It looks kind of like a sock or a jacket made out of a special cloth. On the inside of the cloth, there are little wires that get warm when you turn on the heating mantle.
When you put a glass container like a beaker or a flask inside the heating mantle and turn it on, the wires get hot and transfer that heat to the container. This means that liquids or other things inside the container also get warm without any direct flames or heat source, which can be really helpful when you are doing science experiments or trying to keep something at a certain temperature.
But it's important to remember that heating mantles can get very hot, so you should always use them carefully and with adult supervision!
