ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heilbronn set

Okay kiddo, do you remember when we learned about numbers? You know, like 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on? Well, some people like to play with these numbers and try to figure out what cool things they can do with them. One thing they like to do is to add or multiply some of these numbers together to create a new number.

The Heilbronn set is a really special set of numbers that is created when you add or multiply two numbers together. But there's a catch, both of the numbers you use have to be different. For example, you can't use 2 and 2, but you can use 2 and 3 or 4 and 7.

People who study the Heilbronn set have found out some really interesting things about it. For example, they know that if you add any two numbers from the Heilbronn set, you'll get a different number that is also in the Heilbronn set. They've also found out that there's no limit to how big or small the numbers in the set can be.

Now, why is this important, you might ask? Well, scientists and mathematicians are always trying to understand more about numbers and how they work. The Heilbronn set is just one puzzle that they're trying to solve, and by figuring out more about it, they can learn more about numbers in general. Plus, it's just really cool to be able to do math and find out new things!
