Heliacal rising

Heliacal rising is when a star is seen rising in the morning above the horizon. This happens near the same time of day for several days in a row and then stops. To spot a heliacal rising, you need to look to the east each morning when it is still dark outside. The first star you see rising is the heliacal star.
