ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Helios (propulsion system)

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen a rocket launch on TV? It goes up really fast and high, right? Well, to make that happen, you need something called a propulsion system.

Helios is a type of propulsion system that is used on spacecrafts. It's a special engine that uses something called plasma to create thrust (which is like pushing the spacecraft forward really hard). Plasma is a super-hot gas that is made up of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons.

Now, to make the Helios propulsion system work, you need to take in something called propellant (which is like the fuel for the engine). This propellant is ionized (which means it's given an electric charge) and then heated up to make it into plasma. When the plasma is released out of the back of the engine, it creates a lot of thrust!

So, in summary, Helios is a type of engine that uses really hot plasma to push a spacecraft forward. It's like a really powerful rocket that can help us travel through space!
