ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heliosphere

The heliosphere is like a big bubble that is always around our sun. It keeps all the stuff the sun gives off, called the solar wind, inside. Just like a balloon keeps the air inside, the heliosphere keeps the solar wind inside. It's so big that it goes far, far away from our sun, way beyond all the planets.

The heliosphere is the limit of the sun's influence in space. It's like the sun's personal space. Inside the heliosphere, the sun's magnetic field is directing the way things move and pushing things out. But once you get outside the heliosphere, it's a whole different story. Other things, like radiation from other stars, start to have more of an influence.

Think of the heliosphere like a house. Inside the house, the mom and dad make the rules and everything stays pretty much the same. But once you step outside the house, there are new things to explore and different rules to follow. The heliosphere is the house that our sun lives in, and once we step outside, we're in the big wide universe.
