Hemodialysis

Hemodialysis is a type of treatment that uses special machines to help your body get rid of waste and extra water if your kidneys can't do that job anymore. It's like a chore the machine does for your body. It's like a vacuum cleaner that sucks up dirt, but this machine sucks up things like salt and other waste that your body doesn't want. The machine connects to a plastic tube that is placed in an artery in your arm or leg, and the other end of the tube is connected to the machine. Inside the machine is a filter called a dialyzer which traps the extra salt and waste from your blood and flushes it out of your body. It's kind of like a special filter for your blood. It's also very important for the blood to be sent through the right kind of filter because the filter can remove unwanted substances like salt and waste but still keep the important things like proteins and red blood cells. After that, the cleaned and filtered blood goes back into your body. Hemodialysis is a way to help people stay healthier and live longer!
