Herd immunity

Herd immunity is like when everyone in your class gets a shot to keep them from getting sick. When a lot of people in your class get the shot, it keeps the whole class from getting sick, even if one or two people don't get the shot.

This is because the shot helps your body fight off the bad germs that make everyone sick. When enough people in a big group (like a whole school or a whole town) get the shot, it's like they're covering everyone else who can't get the shot or might get sick anyway. It's like they're making a really big shield out of everyone's bodies, and the germs can't get in.

So herd immunity is when a community has a lot of people who can't get sick and won't spread germs to other people who can get sick. This helps to keep everyone healthy and safe, without having to worry too much about getting sick all the time.
