ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hereditary politicians

Okay kiddo, so have you heard of the word 'politics'? It's like playing games where grown-ups are always trying to make some important decisions that affect all of us. Sometimes, we choose some people to lead the games and make these decisions so that everything goes smoothly.

Now, some families have been playing these political games for a very long time. So long, in fact, that the people in the family usually become good at it even before they are old enough to play. That is why their parents and grandparents, who were also good at this game, teach it to their little ones. Eventually, when these children grow up, they already know all the rules, and some of them may become good politicians too.

These families are so good at playing these games that people around them usually trust them. That is why some countries or communities allow these families to keep playing these games for generations. And this is where the term "hereditary politicians" comes in. It means that people who are born into a family that has played politics well for a long time, automatically become politicians because it's kind of like their family business.

Now, some people think that hereditary politicians are a good thing because they know what they're doing and have experience. On the other hand, some think that it's not fair because other people don't get a chance to play.

So, that's the simple way to think of hereditary politicians. It's just like when you're really good at playing games or doing something because you've done it a lot before, and then you teach it to your little brother or sister so that they can also be good at it.
