ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hestavíg

Hestavíg is an old Icelandic word that means "horse fighting". It's important to note that this is NOT something that people do anymore, and it's actually not a very nice thing to do to horses.

In the past, some people used to get two male horses, or stallions, and make them fight each other. They would get the horses all worked up and angry, and then let them loose to fight each other. This was done for entertainment, but it's actually really mean to the horses.

Horses are naturally gentle animals, and making them fight each other goes against their peaceful nature. Additionally, it can be really dangerous for people to be around fighting horses because they can accidentally hurt people with their hooves or bite them.

So, in summary, hestavíg is an old Icelandic word for horse fighting, which used to be done for entertainment but is no longer a thing people do because it is mean to the horses and dangerous for people.
