ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Heterodyne

Heterodyne is a way to combine two sound waves together to form a single sound wave. It is like two ocean waves crashing together to form a bigger wave. The two sound waves are different frequencies. When they join together, the result is a wave with a different frequency than either of the two original waves. This process can be used to change the pitch of sounds or to combine two or more sounds into one.
