ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hibakusha

Hibakusha is a big word that means people who survived a really, really big and bad thing called the atomic bombs that were dropped on two cities in Japan a long time ago, when our grandparents were young. These bombs were like really, really powerful explosions that caused a lot of destruction and chaos.

The people who survived these bombs, the hibakusha, were very lucky to survive, because a lot of people didn't. But even though they survived, they still had to deal with a lot of problems and health issues caused by the bombs, like burns, sickness and other bad stuff.

Hibakushas are very special people because they went through a really hard experience and still managed to keep going. A lot of them are very brave and talk about what happened to them, so we can learn from their experiences and make sure that something like that never happens again.
