High-dynamic-range rendering

High-dynamic-range (HDR) rendering is like looking through a pair of magical glasses that make everything in the real world look more detailed and exciting. When a computer game or movie is made, there are different colors or shades of light that are used to create the picture on the screen. In regular rendering, the colors and shades are limited to a certain range, meaning that some details will be lost in the darker or brighter parts of the image.

However, with HDR rendering, the colors and shades that are used have a much wider range, which means that the bright parts of the image can be brighter and the dark parts can be darker. This creates a much more realistic and immersive experience, because it makes the picture look like it would in the real world.

For example, imagine you are outside on a sunny day and you look up at the sky. You can see the bright sun and the blue sky at the same time, but if you try to take a picture of it with a regular camera, either the sky might be too bright and the sun looks like a white circle, or the sun might be just right and the sky looks too dark. But if you use a special camera that has HDR, you can see the sun and the sky as they really look, with all the different shades and colors.

In short, HDR rendering makes the computer-generated images look more like real-life, by allowing for a wider range of colors and shades to be used in the image.
