High-functioning autism

High-functioning autism is a way that some people's brains work. Normally, people are able to understand things like social cues and body language, but people with high-functioning autism might not be as good at understanding these things. They might also have trouble communicating with others, especially when understanding things like sarcasm or jokes.

People with high-functioning autism might have some special interests that they really like and spend a lot of time learning about. Sometimes, they might not be interested in playing or talking with other people as much as other kids are. They might also get really upset if their routines are disrupted or if things don't go the way they expect them to.

But even though people with high-functioning autism might think differently than most people, they can still be really great at all sorts of things. They might be really good at math, science, or music. Everyone is different, and that means that even people with high-functioning autism are unique and special in their own way.
