ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Himetric

Himetric is a way of measuring things like length or weight. It's like using a special ruler or scale that works a little bit differently. Instead of using inches or pounds, which are units we use in the United States, himetric uses centimeters and grams.

So let's say you have a toy car that is 10 centimeters long. In himetric, we would say that the car is "10 cm" or "10 centimeters" long. Or let's say you have a bag of candy that weighs 500 grams. In himetric, we would say that the bag of candy weighs "500 g" or "500 grams".

Some countries use himetric all the time, which means they measure everything using centimeters and grams. Other countries, like the United States, use a different way of measuring things called the customary system. But if you ever travel to a country that uses himetric, it's important to know how it works so you can understand how long or heavy things are.
