ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hindu code bills

Imagine that you and your friends like to play games together. But sometimes, there are arguments because everyone wants to play a different game or play by different rules. This is kind of like what was happening in India a long time ago.

India has a lot of different religions and cultures, and each group had their own set of rules for things like marriage, inheritance, and property rights. This made it very confusing and difficult to know what the laws were in different parts of the country.

So, the government decided they needed to create a set of laws that would apply to everyone, regardless of their religion or culture. This is called the Hindu Code Bills.

The Hindu Code Bills included laws about marriage, divorce, inheritance, and other important things. They were designed to make things fairer for everyone and to ensure that everyone knew what the rules were.

But, not everyone agreed with the Hindu Code Bills. Some people thought that they went against their religious beliefs, and there were protests and disagreements.

Eventually, the Hindu Code Bills were passed into law and they have helped to make things more consistent and fair across India, regardless of someone's religion or culture.
