Hinduism in Maldives

Hinduism is a religion that people follow to worship many gods and goddesses. Maldives is a country made up of islands in the Indian Ocean, and some people in the past followed Hinduism as their religion. However, today, most people in Maldives follow Islam, another religion which believes in one God, Allah. Some old buildings in Maldives still have Hindu symbols and carvings, which show the influence of Hinduism in the past. While it is not the dominant religion in the country today, Hinduism still holds historical and cultural significance in Maldives.
