ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hineri-komi

"Hineri-komi" is a Japanese word that means "twist and pull." It is a technique that is used in martial arts such as Judo and Jiu Jitsu, to throw an opponent off balance and take them down to the ground.

Let's pretend you are playing with your friends on the playground. Your friend is trying to push you, but you don't want to fall over. You can use hineri-komi to twist their arm and pull them off balance, so they fall down instead!

In Judo or Jiu Jitsu, the person executing the hineri-komi will grab onto their opponent's arm and twist it in a certain way. They will then use their body weight and momentum to pull their opponent towards them, throwing them off balance and onto the ground.

Hineri-komi can be used to defend yourself or to attack an opponent. It requires a lot of practice and skill to do it well, just like learning how to swing on a swing set at the playground.

Remember, it's important to always practice martial arts techniques with a trained instructor and never use them to hurt someone on purpose.
