ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hirohito

So imagine there was a man named Hirohito who lived a long time ago in Japan. He was very important because he was the leader of Japan, kind of like a king or a president.

Hirohito became leader when he was just a young boy, only 25 years old. He ruled Japan for a really long time, like 63 years!

Now, Japan was involved in a really big war called World War II, and Hirohito was the leader during this time. He wasn't really like the other leaders though. He didn't have a lot of power to make decisions on his own. Instead, he had advisors who helped him make choices.

Some people say that Hirohito should have done more to stop the war, because it caused a lot of damage and hurt a lot of people. But other people think that he couldn't really do anything because he didn't have that much power.

After the war was over, Japan had to change a lot of things because they lost. Hirohito was still the leader, but he had to change the way he did things. He even had to say sorry for the bad things that happened during the war.

Finally, when Hirohito was very old, he passed away. A lot of people were sad, but he was remembered as an important person in Japan's history.
