Historia animalium (Gessner book)

"Hi there! Do you know what a book is? It is like a really long paper that has a lot of information inside of it. Well, a long time ago there was man named Conrad Gessner who wrote a really special book called 'Historia animalium.' This book was all about animals! It had pictures of animals and information about them that people did not know before.

When Conrad was a child, he loved to go outside and explore nature. He liked to look at plants and animals and learn as much as he could about them. As he grew older, he became a scientist and took his love for animals to a whole new level. He wanted to study every animal in the world and write it all down in his book.

Conrad spent many years traveling all over the world to observe animals and interview people who knew a lot about them. He wanted his book to be as accurate as possible! He would draw pictures of animals and write down everything he learned about them.

His book became famous because it was the first time anyone had ever tried to write down every detail about every animal they could find. People were amazed at the pictures and the information in the book! It taught them so much about the animals they had never seen before.

So, 'Historia animalium' is a really special book all about animals from a long time ago. It helped people learn more about the animals they share the world with and appreciate them even more! Isn't that interesting?"
