Historical fencing in Scotland

Okay little one, have you ever seen people play with swords like they do in movies or cartoons? Well, some grown-ups like to do that for real and it's called historical fencing.

In Scotland, a long long time ago, people used to fight with swords and shields to protect themselves. Nowadays, some people are very interested in learning how they fought in the past and they also want to do it safely.

These grown-ups create a special kind of sport where they wear special clothes and use special swords that are not sharp at all. This way they can fight with each other and practice the moves without hurting each other.

People who practice historical fencing in Scotland study very hard to learn the right techniques and styles of sword-fighting. They even learn how to speak and use the same words people used in the past when they were fighting.

So, it's kind of like a fun game for these grown-ups, but it's also very serious because they want to learn how to do it correctly and be respectful of the past. Plus, it's also great exercise and lots of fun!
