Okay, so North Macedonia is a country in Europe that used to be a part of a larger country called Yugoslavia. But then, in 1991, Yugoslavia broke into smaller countries, and one of those smaller countries was North Macedonia.
Before Yugoslavia, the area that is now North Macedonia had different groups of people living there throughout history. There were ancient Greek cities and also a kingdom called Paeonia. Later on, the Romans took over the area and made it a province of their empire.
After the Roman Empire fell, different groups of people like the Byzantines, Bulgarians, and Ottomans controlled the area at different times. But in the early 20th century, North Macedonia became a part of the country of Yugoslavia.
In Yugoslavia, North Macedonia was one of the six republics. But in the 1990s, some of the republics wanted to become independent countries. In 1991, North Macedonia declared independence from Yugoslavia and became its own country.
Since then, North Macedonia has had its own government and leaders. It has faced some challenges, like economic struggles and disputes with neighboring countries, but it has also made progress and grown as a country. Today, North Macedonia is a member of the United Nations and has its own unique history and culture.
