Ontario is a big place in Canada where lots and lots of people live. But a long, long time ago, there weren't any people in Ontario, just animals and plants.
Then, Native people started arriving and living in Ontario over 10,000 years ago. They built villages, hunted animals, and grew crops.
Later, in the 1600s, Europeans arrived in Ontario and created colonies. They were French and British people who wanted to trade in furs and make money.
There were many fights between the French and British people over who would control Ontario. Eventually, the British won, and they made Ontario a province in 1867.
Ontario quickly became a hub for industry and trade, with lots of factories and businesses popping up. The province grew and grew, and people from all over the world came to live here.
Now, Ontario is a big, diverse place with lots of different cultures and languages. And it all started with the Native people, who were the very first to make Ontario their home.
