History of San Antonio
San Antonio is a city in Texas that has a very long history starting from a time long before most people were even born.
A long, long time ago, many Native American tribes lived in the area that is now known as San Antonio. They built homes out of adobe, which is like building with mud bricks, and lived off the land by hunting and gathering.

Throughout the 1800s, San Antonio continued to grow as a hub for trade and military activity. It was even the capital of the Republic of Texas for a short time before Texas became a state in 1845.
In the early 1900s, San Antonio became known for its tourism industry, with the construction of the historic River Walk, which is a network of canal-like waterways lined with restaurants, shops, and hotels.
