History of Spain (1700-1810)

Ok, so a long time ago, there was a country called Spain. But between the years 1700 and 1810, there were a lot of things happening there. It all started when the king of Spain died and his son, who was also named Philip, took over. But some people didn't like him and they wanted someone else to be the king. So, two different guys claimed that they were the real king of Spain and they started to fight each other.

Meanwhile, there were also some other countries that didn't like Spain very much. One of them was called England and they sent their soldiers to attack Spain and take their colonies. Spain was not very strong at that time, so they could not fight back very well. Then, Napoleon, who was a very important leader in France, saw that Spain was weak and decided to invade them too. He also wanted to make his own brother, Joseph, the king of Spain.

This made the people of Spain very angry and they started to fight back against both England and France. There was a man named Miguel Hidalgo who led a rebellion against the Spanish government in Mexico, which at that time was a colony of Spain. He wanted Mexico to be its own country, but unfortunately, he was captured and executed.

Finally, in 1810, a group of people in Spain got together and decided to write a new constitution that would give more rights to the people. They also wanted to limit the power of the king and the church. But some people didn't like this either, and there was still a lot of fighting and unrest in Spain for many years afterwards.

So, in summary, between the years 1700 and 1810, Spain had a lot of problems with people fighting over who should be the king, other countries attacking them, and the people wanting more rights and freedoms. It was a difficult time for Spain, but they eventually found a way to start making some changes for the better.
