History of Unitarianism

Unitarianism is a type of religion that started a long time ago. It's all about how people think about God and what they believe.

A very long time ago, most people believed in something called the Trinity. This meant they believed that there were three parts to God: the Father, the Son (who was also Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. But some people didn't agree with this idea. They thought that there was only one part to God, and that God was just one thing, not three things. These people were called "unitarians."

The first unitarians were in the Christian church in Europe. They started to believe this idea in the 1500s and 1600s. But other people didn't like their ideas and thought they were wrong. So, the unitarians had to keep their beliefs a secret for a while. They couldn't always talk about them in public or they might get in trouble.

Over time, more and more people started to believe in unitarianism. They thought it was important to focus on God as one thing and not worry so much about the different parts. In England and America, people started forming their own churches that followed this way of thinking.

Today, there are many people who are unitarians. They believe in God as one thing and that it's important to be kind to others and help people who need it. They might go to a unitarian church or practice their religion in different ways, but they all believe in the same idea.
