I'm happy to explain the history of breakfast as if you're five years old!
Breakfast is the first meal of the day that people eat after they wake up in the morning. But did you know that a long time ago, people didn't really have breakfast like we do today?
Many years ago, people mostly ate what they could find or catch for food, like fruits or wild animals. They didn't really have fancy foods or meals like we have now. Sometimes they would eat leftovers from the night before, but that wasn't really a planned breakfast.
As time went on, people started to have more different kinds of foods, like grains and breads. It became more common to have a meal in the morning, especially among the wealthy people who could afford to have elaborate meals.
In many cultures, breakfast foods vary widely. In some places, people still eat the same kinds of foods they did hundreds of years ago. In others, breakfast is a big, fancy meal with lots of different dishes.
Today, many people around the world eat breakfast every day. Some people just have a small snack or drink, while others have a full meal with eggs, bacon, toast, and more. It's really up to each person to decide what they like to eat for breakfast!
