History of coins

Coins have been around since the time people started trading things with one another. Coins were used as a form of money way back in 600 BC in some parts of the world— people would carry a special metal coin around with them to help them buy food, clothes, and other things they needed. Coins have changed a lot over the years, but they have always been a convenient way to exchange things.

Throughout history, coins have come in different shapes and sizes, and have been made from different types of metal, depending on the country and the time period. People used coins for many different things— to buy food, pay taxes, pay for goods and services, pay the people who worked for them, or even to make art.

Today, coins are still used to buy things and are made from metal, but also paper money is used, too. Paper money has a picture of a country's leader or important symbol on it to show it is from that country. Now, there are also things like credit cards and debit cards that people can use to buy things, so coins and paper money isn't the only way to pay for things anymore.
