History of speciation

Speciation is the process of different species forming. It's how different kinds of animals and plants we see in the world came to be. When it comes to animals, speciation typically happens when two groups of the same type of animal become separated from each other and stop breeding together. Over time, the two groups develop different traits and become different enough that they can't breed together anymore and are considered to be two different species. This process can take thousands of years, but it has been happening ever since animals first evolved on our planet!
