History of the horse in the Indian subcontinent

A long long time ago, there were no horses in the Indian subcontinent. People used to travel on foot or on the backs of oxen or elephants. But then, some people from far away brought horses with them. They probably came from Central Asia or possibly even Europe.

When the horses arrived, they were very important animals. People used them to carry things, go to war, and even for their own entertainment. The horses had strong legs and could run fast, making them very valuable.

Over time, people in the Indian subcontinent learned how to take care of horses and breed them. They even had special horse breeds that were perfect for different purposes. Some horses were good for carrying things, while others were great for racing.

As people started using horses more and more, they became a symbol of wealth and status. Only rich and important people could afford to have horses, while the common people had to stick to walking or riding on oxen.

Even today, horses are still very important in some parts of the Indian subcontinent. People still use them for transportation, sports, and even some religious ceremonies.

So, that's how the horse came to the Indian subcontinent and became an important part of its history!
