Hittite inscriptions

Hittite inscriptions are ancient writings left behind by the Hittites, a group of people who lived a very long time ago in what is now known as Turkey. These writings were carved into rocks, tablets and walls with special tools and are similar to what we call letters or words today.

Imagine you wanted to write a letter, but instead of a piece of paper or a computer, you used a hammer and chisel to carve your words into a stone. This is what the Hittites did, and the inscriptions they left behind tell us a lot about their culture, beliefs, and way of life.

Although these inscriptions are hundreds of years old, scholars and experts are still learning from them today. By studying the inscriptions and piecing together the meanings of the symbols and words, they can understand more about the Hittite language and even learn more about history as well.

So, in summary, Hittite inscriptions are ancient carvings that are like written records left by the Hittite people a long time ago. Just like how you can learn a lot from reading a book, scholars can learn a lot from studying these inscriptions.
