Hodu-gwaja

Hodu-gwaja is a delicious Korean snack that is shaped like a tiny walnut shell. It is made from a special dough that is filled with sweet and yummy ingredients.

First, the dough is made using flour, water, and a little bit of sugar. It is mixed together until it becomes smooth and soft. Then, the dough is rolled into small balls and flattened with a special machine. This makes the dough thin and ready to be filled.

Next, the filling is added to the dough. The most common filling used in hodu-gwaja is a sweet bean paste made from boiled red beans and sugar. This paste is thick and sticky, and it tastes very sweet. Sometimes, other fillings like nuts or chocolate are used to make different flavors of hodu-gwaja.

To make the hodu-gwaja look like a walnut shell, the dough is carefully folded and pressed together around the filling. This creates a beautiful and realistic walnut shape. The outside of the hodu-gwaja is then coated with a syrup made from honey or sugar. This syrup makes the snack shiny and adds even more sweetness.

Finally, the hodu-gwaja is baked in an oven until it becomes golden brown and crispy. The heat from the oven makes the dough rise and become fluffy, while the filling inside gets warm and gooey. The aroma of the baking hodu-gwaja fills the air and makes your mouth water!

Once the hodu-gwaja is done baking, it is taken out of the oven and left to cool. When it is cool enough to eat, you can take a bite and taste the amazing combination of the soft and chewy dough, the sweet and flavorful filling, and the crunchy outer shell. It’s like a little piece of heaven in your mouth!

Hodu-gwaja is a popular snack in Korea and is often enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee. It is loved by both children and adults because of its delightful taste and cute walnut shape. So, if you ever have a chance to try hodu-gwaja, don’t miss out! It will surely make your taste buds happy.
