Hogshead

A hogshead is a big barrel that is used to hold liquids such as wine, beer, or whisky so they can be stored and transported safely. Think of it like a giant juice box for grownups. It's called a hogshead because long ago people used to make barrels out of pig's skin (yuck!) and a hog is another word for a pig. Nowadays, hogsheads are usually made out of wood or metal and can hold a lot of liquid, sometimes even more than 50 gallons! When they're filled up, they're really heavy, so it's important to be strong and careful when moving them around.
