ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hola Mohalla

Hola Mohalla is a festival that happens in India for Sikhs. A festival is like a special celebration where people come together and do special things. For Sikhs, Hola Mohalla is like their own special Olympics! They go to a special place called Anandpur Sahib, which is like a big playground for them. There, they do lots of cool things like running, horseback riding, and fighting with swords. But don't worry, these swords are not real swords and nobody gets hurt.

Sikhs celebrate Hola Mohalla to remember a special person named Guru Gobind Singh. He was a very important Sikh teacher and leader. He started Hola Mohalla as a way for the Sikhs to train their bodies and minds, and also to show how strong and brave they could be. That's why they do so many fun and exciting things during the festival.

During Hola Mohalla, the Sikhs wear special clothes called "Nihangs". Nihangs are like superheroes for Sikhs because they are really brave and strong. They wear colorful clothes and big turbans, which are like fancy hats. They also carry weapons like swords and spears, but like I said before, nobody gets hurt because they are not real weapons.

So, in short, Hola Mohalla is a fun festival for Sikhs where they go to Anandpur Sahib and do cool and exciting things to remember a special Sikh leader named Guru Gobind Singh. They wear special clothes and show how brave and strong they can be, just like superheroes!
