Holy Week is a very special and important time for people who follow Jesus in the Philippines. It lasts for one whole week and it is a time when people remember what Jesus did for them a long time ago.
On Palm Sunday, people wave palm leaves and sing songs to remember when Jesus rode into a city called Jerusalem on a donkey. They want to show that they love and respect Jesus just like the people did when he was alive.
On Maundy Thursday, people go to church to remember the last supper that Jesus had with his disciples before he died. They also have a tradition called "Visita Iglesia," where they visit seven different churches to pray.
On Good Friday, people remember when Jesus was arrested, tried, and sentenced to die. They go to church and walk through the streets to remember Jesus' journey to the hill where he was crucified. Some people even do a re-enactment of the crucifixion.
On Black Saturday, people go to church to pray and remember Jesus' body being placed in a tomb.
Finally, on Easter Sunday, people celebrate because Jesus rose from the dead! They go to church and sing joyful songs and some even have big feasts with family and friends.
