ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Homophobia in the Asian American community

Okay kiddo, let me explain Homophobia in Asian-American Community. Homophobia is when someone is afraid, hateful, or negative towards people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). Asian-Americans are people who have family roots in Asia, like China, Japan, and Korea, but they now live in the USA. Unfortunately, some Asian-Americans may not accept LGBT people because of their cultural or religious beliefs. This means they may say or do things that are mean or hurtful to LGBT people, like telling them they are wrong, abnormal, or sinful for being who they are. This kind of bullying is not okay and hurts the feelings and safety of LGBT people. However, we should always remember to be kind and accepting towards everyone regardless of their differences.
