Honda Point disaster

The Honda Point Disaster was an incident in which seven US Navy ships ran aground off the coast of California in 1923. It happened because the ships were following an incorrect map which made them think they were in deeper waters than they actually were. When they realized they were in too shallow waters, they could not turn their ships around quickly enough and they ran aground on rocks, damaging them. Thankfully, no one was killed in the incident.
