ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Honorary Aryan

The "Honorary Aryan" was a title given by the Nazi party in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. The term "Aryan" was used by the Nazis to describe people who they thought were superior to others. They believed that people who were Aryan were from a specific race that originated in Northern Europe and were tall, blonde, and blue-eyed.

Many people who were not Aryan, including some in high positions of power, wanted to be accepted by the Nazi government. So, they were given the title of "Honorary Aryan" as a way of saying that they were just as good as the Aryan people, even though they weren't actually part of that race.

This title was often given to people who were considered valuable to the Nazi regime, like athletes or scientists. It was also given to people who were not Aryan but had served in the German military during World War I or had made significant contributions to society in other ways.

In reality, the concept of a "superior race" is wrong and harmful. It is important to remember that all people are equal, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
