Honour system

Hi kiddo! Today we will learn about something called the "honour system."

When we use the honour system, it means that we trust people to be honest and to do the right thing even when no one is watching. It's kind of like when mom leaves a jar of cookies out and tells you not to eat them all, but she has to run errands and trusts you not to eat them all while she's gone.

Think of it like this: if you're on a playground and someone has a basketball, they might let you play with it. But they might not stay right beside you the whole time. They trust that you won't take the ball and run away with it, but instead will play nicely and give it back when you're done.

The honour system can be used in lots of different ways. Maybe your school has a book exchange where you can borrow books from the library without checking them out, but it's expected that you'll bring them back when you're done. Or maybe you're at a party and there's a bowl of candy out for everyone to share. You could take a handful and walk away, but instead, you take just one or two because you know that's the right thing to do.

So, the honour system is all about trust, honesty, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It's a way of showing respect and responsibility for ourselves and for others.
