Hoof

A hoof is like a special shoe that horses wear. Horses have four hooves – one on each foot, just like we have shoes on our feet. They use their hooves to walk, run, jump, and even kick.

A hoof is made of something called "keratin," which is like a very tough fingernail. Its shape is curved (like a horseshoe), and it's hard and durable, so it can protect the horse's foot from getting hurt. The hoof grows constantly, so it always stays the right size to fit the horse's foot.

Horses need their hooves to be healthy and strong, so they can move around and be active. Their owners take good care of their hooves by cleaning them, trimming them, and putting special shoes on them to protect them from damage. Just like we take care of our shoes so they don't wear out too quickly!
