Horatio Greenough

Horatio Greenough was a man who lived a long time ago, in the 1800s. He was an artist who liked to make things out of stone, like sculptures.

One thing that Horatio made was a statue of a famous leader named George Washington. This statue was very different from other statues of George Washington because he made him look like he was naked, with no clothes on!

Some people didn't like this because they thought it was disrespectful to show a leader like George Washington without clothes on. But Horatio thought it was a good way to show how strong and powerful he was.

Even though some people didn't like the naked statue, Horatio was very proud of it. He thought it was a great work of art and wanted people to see it. Eventually, the statue was put on display in a special building called a museum, where people could come and see it for themselves.

So, Horatio Greenough was a man who made sculptures out of stone, including a statue of George Washington that was different from others because he showed him without clothes.
