The Horten Ho 229 was a big flying thing that was invented a long time ago by two brothers named Reimar and Walter Horten. They lived in Germany and wanted to make airplanes that were faster and harder to see than other airplanes. They thought it would be cool to make an airplane that looked like a bat or a bird, because those animals are really good at flying and staying hidden.
The Horten Ho 229 had a special shape called a "flying wing". This meant that it didn't have a separate part for the body, tail, and wings like a normal airplane. Instead, everything was combined into one big wing shape. This allowed it to fly through the air really smoothly and quietly.
The Horten brothers made the Horten Ho 229 mostly out of wood and glue, because metal was too heavy and would slow it down. They also put two big jet engines on the back to make it go really fast.
The Horten Ho 229 was used during a war called World War II, but not very many of them were made. They were really hard to fly and even harder to land, so not many pilots wanted to use them. But even though they weren't used very much, the Horten Ho 229 was still a really important invention that helped make airplanes better and faster.
