ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hot working

Hot working is like playing with Play-Doh that has been warmed up. You know how when you play with warm Play-Doh it's easier to shape and mold it? That's exactly what hot working is, but with metals instead of Play-Doh.

When we heat metals to a really hot temperature, they become more pliable and easier to work with. This means we can shape and mold them into different forms without them breaking or cracking.

For example, imagine you have a block of metal that you want to turn into a round metal rod. You could use heat to make the metal softer and easier to bend. Then, you could use a hammer or machine to pound and shape the metal into the rod shape you want.

Hot working can be used to make all sorts of things, like car parts or even skyscrapers. It's an important process in metalworking because it allows us to create strong, precise shapes from otherwise rigid and unyielding metals.
