Householder (Buddhism)

Okay kiddo, in Buddhism, there is a term called 'householder'. This term refers to a person who is living a normal life with a family, a job, and a house, just like how many of us do.

Now, in Buddhism, there are two paths that a person can take to reach enlightenment. One is the path of a monk or a nun, where they leave their families and possessions, and live a simple life of meditation and service. The other path is for householder, where a person can still live their normal life, but they follow certain teachings and practices to reduce their suffering and grow spiritually.

These teachings and practices involve things like being kind to others, practicing meditation, and being mindful of one's thoughts and actions. A householder can still enjoy the things they like, but they do it in a mindful and balanced way that doesn't cause harm or addiction.

So, being a householder in Buddhism means to live a normal life, but also being mindful and practicing certain things that will bring peace and happiness to oneself and others.
