Human Proteome Project

The Human Proteome Project is a research project with the goal of understanding all the different proteins in the human body. Proteins are molecules in our cells that do important work such as helping us build and repair tissues, making sure our cells have enough energy to work, and helping carry signals between cells. The Human Proteome Project involves researchers trying to figure out what all the proteins in the human body look like and what they do. They are doing experiments, using computers, and comparing the proteins in humans to the proteins found in other animals like mice, to learn as much as they can. By understanding all the different proteins, researchers can work towards finding new treatments for diseases and improving our health.
